Team Descriptions

BLUE TEAM

The Blue Team is the DNDC’s beginning swim team. These team members are focusing on learning freestyle and backstroke. They should be able to make it across the pool for a full 25 without resting, and are comfortable enough in the water to provide their own support in their swimming by grabbing the rope or the side before continuing on to completion of the lap. Junior Coaches will be provided each day for this group. Practice will last 30 min.

If your swimmer would like to practice, but not participate in meets, this is likely the group with which they should swim. Please register children who do not wish to participate in meets as "Non-Competitive" as this will lower your ASA Fees.

BRONZE TEAM

This training group continues to reinforce the skills and technique developed in the blue group. This is a beginner level group. Swimmers can accomplish a 25 freestyle (or front crawl) and backstroke without stopping. They will be learning breaststroke, and butterfly. This level is introduced to flip turns and race dives. Practice is 45 minutes. While the focus is primarily on teaching stroke technique, the bronze swimmer is also introduced to aerobic conditioning.

SILVER TEAM

The silver swimmer has accomplished the ability to swim all four strokes. These swimmers also know how to perform starts and flip turns. This training group is for our intermediate swimmers. This training group focuses on building stroke endurance with proper stroke technique. Swimmers will strive to improve all strokes, compete and race all strokes, and improve time standards.

GOLD TEAM

The gold swimmer is an accomplished swimmer. These swimmers can perform all four strokes efficiently, including accurate starts and turns. This training group offers training for the purpose of reaching the highest goals summer league has to offer. The goal of this group is to continue to fine tune strokes, starts, and turns as well as speed and endurance. The gold swimmer is the backbone of our team and they are needed in every meet.

NON-COMPETITIVE TEAM

If your swimmer would like to swim at practice, but not compete in meets this is the group for her/him! Your swimmer can practice with whichever team seems most appropriate for her/him. Non-competitive swimmers may participate in the Mini Meets on Friday mornings. These are intramural meets to introduce and provide confidence to the child before participating in full swim meets. Non-competitive swimmers should be 4 by May 31, 2026.

Evaluations will be completed in the first week of practice, coaches will then decide if non-competitive swimmers should continue to practice with the team they chose or move to a different team practice. If it is decided that your child is not yet ready for swim team, we will encourage you to return next season!

PLEASE NOTE- Non-competitive swimmers are swimmers who are able to swim the entire length of the pool. If your swimmer is not able to swim the length of the pool, please reach out to us for swim teacher referrals.
